CHARACTER AGE: 32.
SPECIES: Human
BACKGROUND & HISTORY: Born in Turkey, growing up as a woman, Ocean never felt like he fit into the expectations society had for him. Even in youth, Ocean was gender non-conforming, and this grew as Ocean aged. Eventually Ocean came out as transgendered, and planned on transitioning medically. He found resistance and harassment from the local government, and eventually applied for asylum because of his transgender status in the state of California. He stayed in California only until he finished nursing school and he had completed his transition to the degree he wished to and then, for personal reasons, left the state and traveled, eventually finding himself in Siren’s Cove. He has only been in Siren’s Cove for a few months, and has a job at the local hospital.
Ocean has no siblings, no children and is not in contact with his parents, although he does love his mother a lot.
PERSONALITY: ‘Fun’ is the calling card. Ocean is all about personal freedom, and prefers to conduct himself with a quiet sense of humor and a self-assured but conscientious air. He believes that whatever you want to do with yourself is perfectly fine, as long as it doesn’t cause harm to anyone else. He’s active, although not much of an ‘extreme sports’ sort. He’d rather go inner tubing than snowboarding and the like.
Although by no means a genius, he’s sharply intelligent, with an emphasis on perception. Ocean’s perceptiveness can both get him into trouble, and unsettle others, it’s to such a degree, and he often finds himself succinctly able to get to the bottom of a situation. He may not be able to assemble Ikea furniture without a lot of frustration, but in a conversation, he knows when someone is lying to him. He knows when facts aren’t matching up. He doesn’t take kindly to it.
Ocean tends to zone out a lot, having a hard time focusing. He gets caught up in his own train of thoughts, or distracted. But he does genuinely care, and deeply, about everyone he meets. LIFESTYLE: Ocean is mostly extraverted and prefers hanging out in public with small groups of people over other things, and is especially interested in politics, music, and science. He’s kind of a gourmand and loves great food although he can’t always afford the eating lifestyle he prefers, and cooking is a hobby of his (along with gardening). He isn’t vegetarian and has no dietary restrictions but he prefers to eat non-processed and healthy. Ocean is pansexual. He describes his sexual preferences as ‘less anything that moves, more anything that loves.’ Emotional connections are hugely important in his life, especially very close friendships. Ocean is agnostic. He was raised by Muslim parents but never held strong religious beliefs, although he has a strong spirituality.
